EDUC 241 - Fundamentals of Secondary Schools Credits: 3 This course is designed to help secondary education candidates understand research-based best practices in teaching and build upon the content of EDUC-239. The focus is on current practices for planning curriculum and instruction, use of assessment, student data and data-based decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving in secondary schools. Additional focus includes the philosophy and organization of middle and high schools. Emphasis is placed on lesson planning, differentiation, including English learners, culturally responsive teaching practices, and classroom management. Corequisite: EDUC-240
