EDUC 320 - Practicum in Literacy Across the Academic Disciplines Credits: 2 The course is designed as a practicum experience in a secondary school setting. The overall focus of this course is on delivering and reflecting on content area lessons that include literacy strategies and interactive observations, including engaging with students and forming relationships with them, observing equitable teaching practices, differentiation of learning, and engaging instructional practices. Emphasis is placed on cooperative learning, the use of literature, differentiated instruction, reflection, and personal goal setting. Students will also embed authentic strategies to assess student learning into the teaching and classroom structure. Candidates will be formatively assessed on the MEES Standards. Teacher candidates will attend practicum during assigned hours unless approved by the program director. Note: 1 or 3 variable credits with the program director’s approval.
