EDUC 509 - Child Development and Learning Credits: 3 This course is designed to help elementary and elementary/early childhood education candidates understand developmental theories, types of research used in developmental studies, observation and analysis of behavior, the different aspects of development (e.g., cognitive, physical, moral, and social), and application of the content to the real world. The focus is for students to utilize the course content to examine personal, classroom, and diverse societal perspectives to integrate theory with real life. Emphasis is placed on applying educational theories and research to lesson design. This course taken at the graduate level requires additional readings and assignments. Related Courses: EDUC-309
