EDUC 542 - Teaching Secondary Science Methods Credits: 3 This course is designed to help secondary education candidates understand research-based best practices in science education. The focus is on the local, state & national standards in science, including the legal & professional responsibilities to ensure student safety. Additional focus areas include instructional strategies appropriate for teaching science, assessment, culturally responsive teaching practices, and differentiation strategies. Emphasis is placed on writing lessons and a unit of instruction that incorporates technology, project/problem-based learning, and critical thinking skills.
