Human Resources Management Minor

The human resources management minor consists of 15 hours in addition to the credit hours required for the student’s major. This minor provides students with a foundational understanding of HR principles and practices. Students develop a strong understanding of how effective HR practices contribute to organizational success through organizational behavior, employment law, and talent development coursework. This minor is particularly beneficial for those looking to enhance their leadership capabilities and prepare for careers that involve managing and developing a diverse workforce. For courses that count toward the minor, students must obtain a grade of C- or better.
Program Outcomes:
A graduate of Maryville University with a minor in human resources management should be able to:
- Describe fundamental concepts, theories, and practices in human resource management.
- Create plans to recruit, select, and retain top talent within organizations.
- Summarize employment laws, regulations, and compliance standards to mitigate legal risks and ensure ethical HR practices within organizations.
- Design, deliver, and evaluate effective training and development programs tailored to organizational needs and employee development objectives.
